The Institutional Repository (IR) of the Technical University of Crete is the ICT infrastructure for collecting, managing, organizing, disseminating and preserving in the long term, the intellectual output produced by it's members. It is an Open Access Repository , which means that all submitted items are freely accessible by the general public, under a Creative Commons License.
The Institutional Repository was developed in the context of the "Open Access Digital Library Services of the Technical University of Crete" project, undertaken by the Library and Information Center of the Technical University of Crete. The project was funded by the "Digital Convergence" Program.
The Institutional Repository was designed and developed by the Laboratory of Distributed Multimedia Information Systems and Applications (TUC/MUSIC) of the Electronic and Computer Engineering School of the Technical University of Crete. It is developed with a TUC/MUSIC software and implements the OAI-PMH protocol for metadata harvesting, whereby it becomes searchable by various international websites, search engines and aggregators.
Currently serves as the repository for the Technical University of Crete’s master and doctoral theses and dissertations. In the foreseeable future, its digital content will be augmented by items like journal articles, conference papers, monographs, technical reports, etc.
The Institutional Repository is offered for document submission, via self-archiving, only to members of the Technical University of Crete community.
It is OpenAIRE compliant (an EU partnership to facilitate openness in scholarly communication). It is also registered to ROARMAP (Registry of Open Access Repository Mandates and Policies) and OpenDOAR (Directory of Open Access Repositories). It is indexed by openarchives.gr (portal for Greek, digital scientific and cultural content) and by Turnitin service for document originality check.
